Rad Reading- March

This month I am reading If I Had Told Her by Laura Nowlin. I have not finished this book yet but I am currently on page 155. So far this is a story about a boy and girl named Autumn and Finny. The two grew up together because their moms are best friends and they have been since they were little kids. In the first book Autumn and finny took their first steps together, their first words together, but their first day of middle school was a bit different than their other firsts. They claim to have just grown apart but deep down inside they both know it was something much more. As the book continues we get to see the ups and downs throughout their lifetime and relationships with their other piers through Finn’s, Jacks, and Autumns perspective. I love this book so far because I love how the same story is told in three different perspectives which makes it feel like three totally different stories. I love it because in one perspective they could be having the time of their lives but at the same time with the same thing that’s happening someone else they could be feeling lonely or depressed or annoyed or who knows what but I get to see how everyone else in the story feels and that really helps me get a sense of what is happening in other peoples lives and minds and not only the narrator. My favorite character so far is Finny. He is my favorite because Finny just has a special kind of love in a way that makes it feel like its you two in the world and you two only. He gives off this special feeling that is unmatchable. A character trait that describes him is loving. He is loving, because when a character is around him they can always tell that they feel safe and almost honored to be a part of his life. An example of this is what it states this in the text “ ‘Oh, Finny,’ Autumn says. Her voice has so much emotion in it that my heart flutters.” Pg. 97 This part was loving from finny because the way he felt a flutter in his heart because of the way that Autumn was admiring him was showing a sense of love and compassion towards Autumn. My favorite quote from the story is “I love you Autumn.” Pg. 87. This is my favorite quote because it is the first time that Finny is confessing his feelings to Autumn. This is a big deal because after eighteen years of a strong love towards each other the word is out and they are able to spend the rest of their lives together forever. Or so they though…

Dream Future

My dream job is to be a pediatrician. In case you don’t know what a pediatrician is, it is a doctor who specializes in the care of children and young adults. My dream job is to be a pediatrician for so many reasons and here are a few examples! The first one is I LOVE kids. I find them so fun to be around and being a pediatrician would give me just that plus I would get paid for just being around them! My second reason is that one of my favorite things to do is help people. Me having this job would mean that I get to help people under the age of 18 every single day for who knows what! It could be a sickness, it could be a constant pain of some sort, it could be something that I have never even heard of, but as long as I get to help them, they could come to me. My final reason is getting help from my closest friends and family. The reason that I would be able to get help from my friends and family is because lots of them are all some sort of nurse/doctor. My grandma for example is a mother baby nurse. A mother baby nurse is a nurse that takes care of the baby right after it’s born. They clean the baby, put it in a swaddle, etc. My aunt is a school nurse so she deals with kids and their injuries all the time. With the help of them I could get so far in the pediatric world, which is why I would want to be a pediatrician.

Rad Reading-February

This month I read If He Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlin. This story was about two kids that grew up together named Autumn, and Finny. At first their relationship seems like a close friendship with an inseparable bond between one another but as they grow up, they start to feel like their relationship has gotten too close to the point that they may be in love. It’s their first year of high school and for some reason they won’t hang out anymore. They both claim to have just grown apart but deep down inside they both know it’s more than that, they just can’t put a finger on it. Autumn has a boyfriend named Jamie and Finny has a girlfriend named Sylvie. Throughout Autumns relationship with Jamie, she loves him but it feels like it’s more of a temporary romance. She has always loved Finny and that love will stick with her always and forever. I liked this book because I got to see so many different events and situations going on all at once. I loved to be able to see the story from so many different perspectives such as Finny, Autumn, Brooke, etc! My favorite character from the story was Finny. He was favorite character because he always was there for anybody that needed him most. For example when Autumn would get picked on he would always be there for her to stand up for her but do it in a respectful way by not starting problems with his piers. My favorite quote from Finny is “ I’m sorry. Im sorry for ever hurting you.” Pg. 363. This is my favorite quote because it shows me how much Finny cares for Autumn and wants to make sure she will always be ok.
