Rad Reading- January

This month I read We’ll Always Have Summer” by Jenny Han. This story was about A teenage girl named Belly and her whole life she has been in love with the Fishers. Susanna was like a second mother to her, Conrad was her first love, and Jeremiah was her first real boyfriend. Now, after two years, Jeremiah gets down on one knee and offers belly what she has always wanted… to be Belly Fisher. As Jeremiah and Belly head back to Cousins Beach to plan their wedding, Conrad comes home to tell Belly he made a mistake when he broke her heart. Now Belly must confront her feelings for Jeremiah and Conrad and face a truth she has possibly always known. She will have to break one of their hearts but who will it be? I enjoyed the book so much because it always kept me on the edge of my seat. You never knew what was going to happen next because one second Belly was in love with Jeremiah then the next she catches feelings again for Conrad. All the characters in the story were so unpredictable and it really made the book fun and exciting but also, romantic and moody. My favorite character in the story was Jeremiah. He was my favorite because he always wanted there to be no tension and always so considerate. My favorite trait that describes him is caring! I think he was my favorite because we have similar ideas in life. We always want everything to be exciting and a fun adventure but wants everyone around us to feel cared for and wanted. An example of him being caring is when he says “What kind of flowers do you want for the wedding?” (pg. 101) This quote stood out to me because it showed me how much Jeremiah wanted this wedding to be special for Belly. Sometimes all a girl needs to feel special is to be able to pick out something so small like flowers in a wedding! My favorite quote from the story is from Conrad. It says “ when Conrad Fisher told a girl, he loved her, he meant it.” This quote felt meaningful because not often do you come across a guy that won’t say things just so you will like him. Conrad only says things that he means when he means it and not for any other reason at any other time.
