Word of Reason

My word of intention for 2024 is persistence. There many reasons for why I am going to focus on this year. I am going to stay persistent with daily routines. Doing this will make me feel accomplished and ready to strive my best and work my hardest. Another thing I would like to stay persistent with is downtime from electronics. I know that sometimes I will try to set a limit for myself on my phone but get carried away and stay on for too long. For me to do this I will set a screen time limit for myself on all of the apps that I feel I use most. It will lock the app completely so I can’t even access it. For me it will be a sign that I need to get up and get active! I would like to stay persistent with putting myself first more. I am very used to putting everyone I know first and I am not focusing enough on taking care of myself and asking myself, “Do I feel like I have put time into myself and do I feel ready for what is coming?” This is why I would choose persistence for my word of 2024 and I hope to see you next time on Charlottes Key too the World!

Rad Reading-December

This month I read Its not Summer Without You by Jenny Han. This book was about Belly Conklin and Jeremiah Fisher trying to bring Conrad Fisher (Jeremiahs brother) home because he has college finals and he was going to miss them. He was at the summer house but little did Belly and Jeremiah know, Conrad was trying to get the summer house back. Mr. Fisher which is Conrad and Jeremiahs dad, was trying to sell the house because he thought it was no good having it, if Susannah was gone. They all go through ups and downs together. Belly has always dreamed of marrying Conrad but who knows. She may get caught in between both of the Fisher boys and to her, make the biggest decision of her life. Will it be Conrad, or Jeremiah? I loved this book so much because the way Jenny Han used very descriptive words made me feel like I was a main character in the book. I believed that I was there in the moment, interacting with the characters and been there with them throughout the novel. My favorite character in the story was Jeremiah. He was my favorite because he always wanted there to be no tension and always so considerate. My favorite trait that describes him is optimistic! I think he was my favorite because we have similar ideas in life. We always want everything to be exciting and a fun adventure. An example of him being optimistic is when he says “Maybe part of me needed that, someone to look up to.”(pg. 168) He was very optimistic here because all he could think about was how he was always the underdog compared to his older brother Conrad. But when life gave him lemons he made lemonade! My favorite quote from the novel was from Jeremiah and he said this. “Maybe part of me needed that, someone to look up to.”(pg. 168). This was my favorite quote because it made me realize that there will always be a bright side but you just have to find it. It will always come to you eventually.

A Day in Charge

I have been told that I am such an awesome amazing incredible person by my school and they want me to be principal for the day! There 5 things that I would want to change about our school for the day and here they are! Number one! Our school lunch will serve fresh Chick Fil A on each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday every other week! I think that we should get this because this franchise is adored by many of us highlanders and I believe that we would all greatly appreciate this great act of kindness. The next thing that I would change would be to have a swimming pool on our campus so we could do swimming in PE and have it as an after school activity! Many students enjoy swimming and enjoy even more competitions so us highlanders can have swim races! This would be another way to please the students. For the third thing I would change, I would put an in-ground trampoline in the gym. This could serve as a lunchtime activity, and after school activity, and a PE activity. The fourth thing that I would change would be the amount of food kids are allowed to get at the cafeteria. I think that for certain foods there should not be a limit on the amount of food that we are allowed to consume. The rule that we currently have applies well to the amount of treats that we can get but I believe that the main course of the day should be limitless because we don’t know how much food some of the students are getting at home so we should be able to make them feel comfortable and well fed. The last and final thing that I would change would be a vending machine. I think that kids should have the option of other drinks besides water on campus but there will be a rule that these drinks besides water shall not be consumed in classrooms without a teacher’s approval. These are the five things that I would change about our school!

There it all Goes

NOOOOOOO!!!! That was me five years ago as my life was being sucked out of me from this dreadful thing called the burning ball of fire. Also known as the sun. It was a hot summer morning and I was just on my daily hop. I saw my best friend getting attacked my the wind, a monkey dancing to the sound of my best friends scream, and the burning ball of fire was there. Smack dab in the middle of the savana. I don’t look at it because of its ugly horrific face but I can’t help myself. He was just floating there being so annoying. Like can you just move or something! He sits there giving me dirty looks like he doesn’t want me to be here but that wasn’t going to stop me now. I walk up to him with my eyes closed and yell WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM WITH ME! WHAT DID I EVER DO TO YOU! Again he just floats there without a response so I challenge him to one of the most defining things in the universe. A staring contest. I ask him if he was down and he didn’t respond which isn’t a no so I close my eyes and do my practice exercises. Then I counted down. Three, two, one, GO! We start the contest and the second I stare at him his judgmental, horrifying face blinds me and I fall to the ground in pain as he sucked the life out of me with his beady eyes. This is what happened to me five years ago when the life was physically drained out of me.

Rad reading- November

This month I am reading Its Not Summer without You by Jenny Han. I am currently on page 125 and loving what is going on. This story is about a girl named Belly but little did she know her life was about to change. Her small relationship with Susannahs oldest son Conrad, was ended this past winter and she would be staying home for the first time in forever. Her best friend Taylor had plans for Belly that would hopefully get her mind off Conrad which included parties, boats, tanning, the pool, boys, boys, and more boys to obsess over. Before any of that got to happen Belly gets an unexpected call from Jeremiah who is Susannahs youngest son and tells Belly that Conrad has disappeared and all he and his father could think of to where he could be is the beach house. Who knows, Belly could spend another summer continuing to chase after Conrad or finally let go of him and their old relationship. I loved this book because I truly felt as if I was there in the moment with the characters and I could clearly picture the setting because of the outstanding dialogue that Jenny Han provides the reader. Another thing I love about this book is how different the characters are and how interesting their relationships are. My favorite character is Jeremiah because he always found a way to break the ice or enlighten the mood. A character trait that describes him is funny. An example of when he is funny is in the text when it states “Jere, you’re, like, the funniest person I know.” Pg. 59. This shows that he is funny because he gets these compliments from people all the time that barely even know him. The person that specifically said this quote was Belly’s best friend Taylor and this was the first time she had ever met Jeremiah. My favorite quote from the story is this. “Oh, hey. How are you?” This may seem like a small quote but it meant a lot to me because it shows how much Jeremiah cares for belly even though his mom just died and he is going through a lot. This is why I love this book and I highly recommend it to you!

Lots of Thanks

I am very thankful for many things but there are three that stand out so here they are. The first thing that I am thankful for is my family. I am thankful for them because I know that I can count on every single one of them no matter what. From my mom and dad, to my cousins, to my grandparents! For example when my parents were out of town I needed to talk to somebody about a problem that I was having so I knew exactly what to do and I told my aunt Nat. She is like a second mom to me and since she has an older daughter too, I knew that she was experienced with dealing with problems like mine. The next thing that I am thankful for is my best friend Ella. She is there for me twenty four seven three sixty five no mater what and I can’t talk to her about absolutely anything. We are very close. Almost like sisters. One time I went to her house nine times in a row and four of those times I slept over. I love being over at her house because I am treated like family and it makes me feel special. I have grown close to her family as well. For example me and her sisters have grown to be pretty close. And her mom! I can talk to her about all of mine and Ellas problems that are going on and she can always find a way to respond that will resolve almost anything! The final thing that I am thankful for is my dog. She always finds a way to enlighten the mood. Let’s say that there was an awkward silence. My dog Tilly would find a way to make somebody laugh, start a conversation, or question some things. She can also comfort you if you get hurt, get in a argument, or are just having a rough day. Her fluffy snuggles are a cure to life. Thank you so much for reading about what I am thankful for and I hope to see you next time on Charlottes Key to the World!

The World is my Oyster

I have been granted three wishes! I have been granted three wishes of my choice and my first wish that I would wish for would be to have a successful future with a good Job, a happy family, a good home, and a good car. For my Job I would be hired as would be a pediatrician, and my car would be a black Porsche SUV with rusted color leather seats on the inside. My second wish would be to get to go on a shopping spree with no limits of the cost! I would buy LOTS of stuff from Sephora, I would order many many things from Amazon so I could give gifts to the people I love. My third and final wish would be happiness, love, and joy to the people that I care about most. This would mean that they would get surrounded by things that they appreciate and love. I would wish for this because I believe that these people deserve the best and that’s what I want to give them. Thank you so much for reading about my three wishes and I hope to see you next time on Charlottes Key to the World.

Rad Reading – October

This month I read The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han. Each summer Belly, her brother Steven, and her mom Laurel go up to cousins beach and stay at Laurels best friend Susannahs beach house! She has two sons Conrad and Jeremiah. Belly has always has a crush on Conrad but this summer she sees something in Jeremiah that she has never seen before. This beach house is her home away from home and all of her favorite people are there at that house. Despite her many distractions from a new guy that she met in the third grade named Cam and all of these lingering looks from Conrad’s brother Jeremiah Belly’s heart has always belonged to Conrad. I enjoyed this book because it gave me so many perspectives of different people. Belly is a sensitive girl that wants to prove that she has matured and Conrad is a shy boy that doesn’t share or show his emotions for any reason no matter the severity. My favorite character is Susannah because she shows affection for everyone she sees even if she doesn’t know who they are and cares strongly for the people she loves. My favorite quote from this story is “You’re the only boy I’ve ever thought about.” (Pg. 243) This was my favorite quote because even though throughout the story Belly has said that she was over Conrad and liked Jeremiah and Cam deep down inside she has always and will always have feeling for Conrad Fisher.

A Life in Different Shoes

If I could trade places with a famous person for the day it would be Selena Gomez. I would pick to trade places with her for a day because she is a very successful person with her own beauty line and a singer/songwriter. Putting myself in her shoes would make me feel proud and impressed by my work. I have one job but not only just a job, I’m a famous pop star who makes a LOT of money for doing what I love but then I take on another job because why not and I create my own beauty line! During this day I would head down to Sephora to see how my beauty line was doing and to see what I need to work on or what I need to make more of. Then I would go home in my limousine and get ready to go to the beach! I love the beach and it would give me a real sense of being famous because I bet I would run into many of my wonderful fans! We would first lay out in the sun to start tanning, then we would hop into the water and go boogie board! We would boogie board for a while then go tan some more. After I’m fully dry and tan I would head home. After I got home from the beach I would shower then put on some comfy sweats and go to the drive through Chick-Fil-A and grab myself some chicken nuggets and fries! Finally I would get on the couch and watch The Summer I Turned Pretty while eating my Chick-Fil-A. Thank you so much for reading about my day in Selena Gomez shoes and I will see you next time on Charlottes Key to the World.

Terrific Tuesday!

My perfect day would be me winning the lottery then spending it at the mall on a Tuesday! I would pick my perfect day to be on a Tuesday because Tuesdays are the only days that I have nothing to do and I love school. At my school on Wednesdays we have late start so we start an hour later than we usually start which means I would get to sleep in and go to school the next morning so I wouldn’t have to go to sleep at an earlier time then my heart desires. First we would go to Starbucks for breakfast and I would get a strawberry açaí refresher and a bacon egg and Gouda sandwich! Then we would go check and see if I won the lottery because it doesn’t hurt to check and… wahooooooo everyone is screaming because I won 3 billion buckaroos and I was thrilled! The first thing I want to do is go deposit all of the money but $10,000 dollars of it into the bank then I would take that $10,000 and go to the mall with my best friend Ella. After we spend a good chunk of that money we would go to Chick-Fil-A and get chicken nuggets, french fires, and an Oreo milkshake! We would spend time going through all of my stuff I bought at the mall which would take about three hours, then I would hit the hay! Thank you so much for reading my blog and I hope to see you next time on Charlottes Key to the World!
